This picture is problematic, for the man in this picture develops whiter skin at each stage. The child learns that ‘white’ is representative of being ‘evolved’.
Additionally, the child is implicitly prompted to equate the process of evolving to wearing Western attire.
This is so subtle but so important. Thank you!
